Florida Plans Learn About Mandatory Coverage, CPRS

A Coalition to Preserve Retirement Security official made a presentation on the dangers of mandatory Social Security coverage and the benefits of CPRS membership to several local pension plans in Florida recently.

Tom Lussier, president of Lussier, Gregor, Vienna & Associates, the coalition's administrator, made the presentation at a June 28 workshop that was held in conjuntion with the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association conference.

Attendees at the workshop included representatives of pension plans in Miami, Tallahassee, Pensacola and Tampa.

Florida has about 173,000 public employees who are not covered by Social Security and forced coverage would cost the state $1.2 billion over the first five years, according to The Segal Company.
