Eleven U.S. senators on March 3 sent a letter to the Senate Finance Committee urging members of that panel not to support mandatory Social Security coverage for state and local workers.

The letter signers included Sens. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Barack Obama, D-Ill., Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., Chris Dodd, D-Conn., Kit Bond, R-Mo., James Inhofe, R-Okla., Mary Landrieu, D-La., and Ken Salazar, D-Colo.
